A five day Peace Studies Seminar was held at Innsbruck University, Austria during August of 2007. It was held for an MA Programme for Peace Studies. The Group was also joined by local people interested in and practitioners of yoga and meditation philosophy. The group was led by Professor Dr. Wolfgang Dietrich It was an international group of students from the following countries: Austria, Bosnia, Brazil, Cameroon, Columbia, Germany, Malta, Nepal, Pakistan, Uganda and U.S.  This was a very interesting, vibrant, knowledgeable group of students, full of vitality and good humour. They were a friendly, well gelled, well supported group. This is a unique programme more to do with building a character for peace rather than just plain studies and discussion. Professor Dietrich has taken his students to climb mountains, rapelle down a 40 meter (130 feet) pole, have the fire brigade as well as the military commanders come and inspire by their work. The last professor who did the seminar was from the department of Social Studies, University of Karachi, Pakistan; he was happy to have the freedom here to do scientific analysis of the Holy Koran around the theme of its message of peace.  One young student seemed disinterested at first thinking, “what does yoga have to do with peace studies!” but within the first two days her interest perked up and she became a full participant. At the end she expressed herself profusely, “of course yoga has everything to do with peace studies; if one does not have peace within oneself how can there be peace in the world”. Dr. Stoma Parker’s very meticulously planned lessons on yoga philosophy and Tejaswini’s guiding the posture sessions were most appreciated.  One student commented that as soon as they listened to Swamiji’s lecture she could not stop smiling. The seminar ended on 24th August. CDs of Swamiji’s 8 lectures in this seminar on the theme of Inner Peace for World Peace can be made available.  On 25th August we were guests of the Yoga Centre of Michael and Nura Kissener which Swamiji has visited four or five times. Again Dr. Stoma Parker gave a full day seminar with very methodical presentations about yoga philosophy, also telling stories of Swami Rama and Swami Veda.  At the end of the session Swamiji honoured Michael and Nura for their services to Yoga by wrapping ceremonial scarves around them.  In the evening Swami Veda did his usual presentation, telling stories from beyond space and time from the Yoga Vasishtha. A CD of this can be made available.
